Brett had a minor niggle to his knee back in July. In the interim, I have been guided by our reserve guides, Gary and Adam, but Brett and I will be back together next week to continue making good progress – I feel like the stars are aligning at last. We have a lot to do to make up for lost time and I can’t wait for us to be skiing together again so we can really give it our best shot, in the run up to the Winter Paralympics, in March 2022.
We have a very busy 5 months coming up. Starting with Europa Cup races in Austria, followed by World Cup races in Switzerland before Christmas. Then, in the New Year, we have the World Championships in Norway and more World Cup races in Sweden. In February we fly out to begin our holding camp in China before the Paralympic Games begin on the 4th March – assuming Brett and I get selected for the team!!
We have just been told there will be no international spectators at the Winter Paralympics in Beijjing. This is such sad news but at least there will be some local Chinese supporters, who are allowed to attend the events. Having a limited crowd, and no friends and family, will be really odd – very different to my previous Games experiences. Hopefully, this won’t have an impact on our preparations and performances.
