The start of the summer

The start of the summer

by | Jun 2, 2015

My last blog seemed such a long time ago now. I have finished my GCSE’s and just started a sports massage course. I have passed the first 2 stages in anatomy and physiology and I am a fully qualified gym instructor. Thanks to Rob Horswell who has adapted the course around my ski training this Summer. I am really enjoying it and I know it will be a useful for the future…I want to be a Physio .
A couple of weekends ago we had our Team season launch at the Stirling Institute of Sport. This was a great few days of good communication and some good lectures. I met Kate Green from UK Sport who talked us through the ‘dos and don’ts’ of the APA funding and Scott Crawford who made me sit up and realise I have to review my strength and conditioning programme ?

All in all, a great, informative weekend. It was also the first time we got together with the snowboarders, who are going to be under the same umbrella as the ski team. They are really nice guys and I look forward to spending time with them on camps – it should be fun.
So, last week I got to attend The Queen’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. What an honour, thank you to ParalympicsGB, DSUK, and BPA for making this possible. Apart from my feet hurting like crazy and having to wear a massive hat that my mum bought in a second hand shop in Canterbury, I loved every minute of that day and will remember it forever.
I am now in Hintertux, Austria. The sun is shining and there is plenty of snow that holds firm until well after midday. It’s good to be back on snow and back at the Koessler Hotel – it’s like a second home, we are looked after so well – Thank you Karina for putting up with us.
I return to school in a couple of weeks to sort out my timetable for next term and then back to training….what a life! ?

Thank you to my sponsors
