Austria training camp

Austria training camp

by | Aug 24, 2014

Well, a lot has happened since my last blog… And yet, not much has happened.
We set off to Hintertux, Austria for summer ski camp with the BDST. It was Hugo Reynolds first time guiding me. We arrived in the rain. Visibility was poor on the glacier. 3 days on the mountain and after a grand total of 5 runs all week due to bad weather, I fell during a dynamic snowploughing inspection of the first giant slalom course. I knew I had done something to my ankle. That was it – end of camp. Two pulled ligaments and my foot was put in a plaster cast for three days and then an air pumped splint to travel home.
I am really on the mend and should be back skiing by the beginning of September thanks to my wonderful Physio, Fiona at St Lawrence sports Physio, Canterbury.
This is an occupational hazard but I have learned a lot from this experience both physically and mentally.
I still had a lovely time with my team mates and my Coach Tony McAllister and dev coach Euan. It was great to spend some time with James Redpath too. Thank you for all your support. I promise to be back with all guns blazing!!!
